My fingerz iz froze
I don't suppose anyone will feel sorry for me, because it's January, and I happen to live in sunny Tucson, Arizona, but still, while I'm waiting for the furnace repair guy or gal to show up, it's hard not to feel sorry for myself. Just a little. I keep having to brew tea, so I can wrap my hands around the mug and keep my fingers warm.

Maybe I should just type faster?

Tucson has been incredibly cold the last week or so. I certainly don't blame you.

I think it is probably warmer outside than in right now, as our home is well-insulated. It's retaining the cold. But the sunshine is starting to warm it up! Yay!

Okay, I know how to fix this...PUT SOME GLOVES ON! Yep, I forget about it too. It takes me a long time to figure out that that silly garment hanging on the back of my door is not a door curtain but a light jacket. A couple of times during the year, I need to put it on.
My mom makes these rice bags. She takes a light soft flannel and makes a long bag with four compartments that she fills with rice. Microwaved for about a minute forty secs, it is deliciously warm and can be laid across a desk so you can rest your wrists while you type and warm your hands.
I'll go see if I can find a pattern.

The segmented tube design looks like the ones she makes that would be perfect as a wrist rest.

Hey, this doesn't look all that hard, actually.

I wonder why you can't use instant rice? Does it do something strange when it's microwaved?

I don't know about the instant rice. We all asked the same thing and came up with witty jokes about it. I suspect it must do something strange when microwaved... Whoever comes up with the best plot line wins!

I get all butter-fingered with gloves, but it's true, stupid me had not thought of that simple yet elegant solution.

That rice thingy sounds intriguing, particularly if it is all straight seams, which I can manage.

Janni and I have talked about this. It takes a couple of hours to actually figure out that we're cold. Figuring out the solution would, of course, take longer. LOL!
I think the rice bag is an easy project. They make great gifts too. My husband and I use ours all the time. It is a lifesaver for sinus headaches. The bag wraps around your face, shoulders, knees, elbows. They're really marvelous things.

When I feel chilled to the bone, a hot shower or bath and then hot tea -- oh, and being wrapped in polar fleece, usually does the trick. Up here in toasty Maricopa County, I have yet to use the heater in my apartment... but have come close a few nights. Houses have more drafts and Tucson is cooler, so it's probably a good 20+ degrees chillier indoors for you.

Not quite that chilly. 62 degrees. Normally the thermostat is set on 68, but I guess I an cold sensitive. I like your three-pronged approach! It was warmer today, but we have to wait for the replacement valve to arrive before the furnace is truly fixed.

I promise to feel sympathy for your fingers if you will empathise with my toe which lost a battle with a supermarket trolley yesterday and as a consequence is red, swo;;en and very painful. We extremities should stick together in times of adversity.

Oh, your poor toe. That is much, much worse than cold fingers!!! I hope it feels better soon.
